Mental Health Awareness Week 2021

Next week (10-16 May) is Mental Health Awareness Week, with a focus on nature, and we’d love our Silverfitters to get involved!

‘…nature’s unique ability to not only bring consolation in times of stress, but also increase our creativity, empathy and a sense of wonder. It turns out that it is not just being in nature but how we open ourselves up and interact with nature that counts.’

‘…to inspire more people to connect with nature in new ways, noticing the impact that this connection can have for their mental health.’

We challenge you to be more present when you are out on your walks, be it a daily walk around your community or as part of one of our Nordic Walking sessions, and let us know how it made you feel – Did it lift your mood? Did it set you up for a great, positive day? Did it make you feel a little less alone/isolated?

Take in your surroundings, notice plants, flowers and wildlife you may have not seen before. And please do send us some photos! We would love to see the nature that you are surrounded by and the beautiful things you find along the way when you’re out and about.

Please tag us on social media channels ( @silverfitorg on Instagram & Twitter and Silverfitcharity on Facebook) or send any photos to [email protected] for us to share during the week to raise awareness for the campaign and the importance of connecting with nature. #connectwithnature
