Please note - currently all sessions need to be booked the week before due to numbers and availability of venues. Each session has its own Typeform (open Tuesdays 11am- Thursday 12pm), please put in your request and you will get emailed back by one of our project managers to let you know if you have a place for the following week.

If you have never attended a Silverfit session before, or your health has changed in any way in the last year, please fill in a PAR-Q - Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire - so that we are aware of any health and medical issues you may have before taking part in our sessions.  You can either print this out and bring it along to a session or fill it out on your computer and email it through to the session Project Manager listed on this page.

Haringey Tuesdays

Venue: Lordship Recreation Ground, meet at Park entrance off Higham Road

Time: Meet 10.30am for 11am start

Activity:

  • Nordic Walking, poles provided

Nordic Walking has greater benefits than regular walking. Research shows it can help both healthy individuals and people with chronic conditions. When compared with regular walking, the scientific evidence suggests that Nordic walking has additional benefits because it, provides a greater total body workout because the arms and upper body are being used with the poles, burns more calories than regular walking, and is less strenuous.

  • Yoga - please bring your own mat

Yoga may hold a key to aging well, suggests a growing body of research into its potential benefits for body and mind — benefits that include reducing heart rate and blood pressure, relieving anxiety and depression, and easing back pain.

Activity:

  • Badminton

Impact helps the growth of the cells which form bones, making Badminton a great sport for older people and those looking to strengthen their bones and prevent fractures – it is lower impact that squash and tennis so it's a great compromise for those unable to play faster, more high impact sports.
