Whitton sessions

Please note – currently all sessions need to be booked the week before, due to numbers and availability of venues. Each session has its own Typeform (open Tuesdays 11am- Thursday 12pm), please put in your request and you will get emailed back by one of our project managers to let you know if you have a place for the following week.

Advice for attending during warmer weather: please bring a bottle of water with you and light clothing, or layers you can remove, as some venues do not have air conditioning.

If you have never attended a Silverfit session before, or your health has changed in any way in the last year, please fill in a PAR-Q - Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire - so that we are aware of any health and medical issues you may have before taking part in our sessions. You need to print this out and bring it along to the session to give to the instructor.

Tuesdays
Activity: Tai Chi and Qi Gong

Where:
Whitton Community Centre, Percy Road, Twickenham, TW2 6JL

  • Session 1: Tai Chi with Michael (indoor)
  • Session 2: Qi Gong with Michael (indoor)

Max 16 participants at each session.

Tai Chi session time: 12.15pm-1pm

Join us for a cuppa at 1pm – both groups welcome.

Qi Gong session time: 1.15pm- 2.00pm

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese movement practice that offers a number of health benefits. For seniors in particular, it can have significant benefits as it focuses on muscle control, stability, balance, and flexibility. The movements are also very gentle.

Qi Gong is very similar to Tai Chi which is why we offer this session as an alternative to Tai Chi, to accommodate for the popularity of the session at this venue.

Wednesday

Activity: Nordic Walking

Where:
Whitton Community Centre, Percy Road, Twickenham, TW2 6JL – meet in the car park.

Time: 1.15pm for 1.30pm start

Activity:

  • Nordic Walking with Kay (outdoors)

If you need a Nordic Walk Pole provided by the instructor

For those who need to borrow poles it is essential that you sign up to the sessions beforehand so instructors know how many sets of poles they will need, this will help avoid any disappointment.

Please turn up at least 20 minutes before the session so that everyone can catch up beforehand and enjoy a full session – especially those who need to be set up with poles. Nordic Walk instructors will not normally delay the session for latecomers.

Wednesday

Activity: Bollywood Dance

Where:
Whitton Community Centre, Percy Road, Twickenham, TW2 6JL

Time: 1.30pm for 1.50pm start

Activity:

  • Bollywood Dance Fitness (indoors)

Bollywood-inspired cardio dance-fitness combines dynamic choreography with upbeat music from around the world and most importantly it is a lot of fun!

Please note: there will be no session on the 3rd August.
