Silverfit has received a fantastic boost from 100+ dedicated fundraisers who walked, Nordic walked and ran 13.1 miles around London in the first ever Big Half marathon.
Created by London Marathon Events Ltd, in partnership with Sported, The Vitality Big Half is a new one day festival centred around the half marathon distance, which aims to be truly global and uniquely local in a celebration of the wonderful cultural diversity of the great city of London. Over 15,000 runners made their way through London’s iconic boroughs of Southwark, Lewisham, Greenwich and Tower Hamlets.
Our Team gathered at Tower Bridge early on a Sunday morning to take on their personal challenge and help to raise thousands of pounds for Silverfit, which provides physical and social activities for older people, encouraging happier, healthier ageing and having fun!
Some photos below of our amazing team members.
Despite all the weather complications, they were rewarded for their training and fundraising efforts with a crisp Spring morning and one of the most picturesque half marathon routes in the country.
Helped on their way by cheering crowds throughout Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf, the streets of Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Greenwich, everyone in Team Silverfit put in a fantastic effort to complete the course.
Congratulations to all of our fabulous runners!
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far – every penny is much appreciated. And of course, a huge thank you once again to everyone in Team Silverfit (runners and volunteers) – your efforts help to make a very real difference to older people in London!
Donations and sponsorships for The Big Half are accepted until 4th April, 2018.
