All Haringey sessions are now on TicketTailor and need to be booked in advance by clicking here or the individual session buttons below.

These sessions are currently free, there is an option to donate to Silverfit when booking your ticket on TicketTailor.

If you have never attended a Silverfit session before, or your health has changed in any way in the last year, please fill in a PAR-Q - Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire - so that we are aware of any health and medical issues you may have before taking part in our sessions. You need to print this out and bring it along to the session to give to the instructor.

Tuesdays

Activity 1: Nordic Walking (poles provided)

Venue: Lordship Recreation Ground, meet at Park entrance off Higham Road

Time: Meet 10.50am for 11am start

If you need Nordic Walking Poles provided by the instructor

For those who need to borrow poles it is essential that you sign up to the sessions beforehand so instructors know how many sets of poles they will need, this will help avoid any disappointment.

Please turn up at least 10 minutes before the session so that everyone can catch up beforehand and enjoy a full session - especially those who need to be set up with poles. Nordic Walk instructors will not normally delay the session for latecomers.

Tuesdays

Activity 2: Badminton and NEW Table Tennis

Venue: Broadwater Farm Community Centre, Adams Road, Tottenham, London, N17 6HE

Time: The session has been extended by 1 hour and will now start at 10am until 12pm. participants should arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of the session

UPDATE:

We have included Table Tennis to our Badminton session as a new activity and to cater to increasing numbers at this session each week. The table tennis table is located in the room right next door and attendees can choose to participate in both activities over the course of the two hour session.

Benefits for Badminton:

Impact helps the growth of the cells which form bones, making Badminton a great sport for older people and those looking to strengthen their bones and prevent fractures – it is lower impact that squash and tennis so it's a great compromise for those unable to play faster, more high impact sports.

Benefits of Table Tennis:

Playing table tennis has great health benefits for seniors and is a great way to stimulate the brain and promote quick thinking while improving hand-eye coordination. Table tennis is a low-injury risk sport that keeps one fit and flexible and improves reflexes.

Activity 3: Yoga (bring your own mat)

Venue: Lordship Hub, Lordship Recreation Ground, Higham Rd, London N17 6NU

Time: 11am, participants should arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of the session

Instructor: Chris will return from 20th February

Price: £3 please pay in person on the day to Chris. Advance bookings on TicketTailor still need to be made to regulate numbers only.

Yoga may hold a key to aging well, suggests a growing body of research into its potential benefits for body and mind — benefits that include reducing heart rate and blood pressure, relieving anxiety and depression, and easing back pain.

Please note: There will be no session on the 19th March.
